Workspace solutions company Nashua Kopano has launched its fixed wireless technology solution called Hypersync that is designed for organisations located on sites without a clear line of sight to wireless towers, and allows for fast deployment of reliable broadband services in a range of rural and urban settings.

The solution is particularly relevant for parts of the country where fibre-optic Internet or fifth-generation fixed wireless access is not available owing to a lack of infrastructure, challenging terrain or low commercial viability for traditional Internet service providers. Many government institutions and businesses in small towns and rural areas will benefit.

Hypersync is point-to-multipoint technology, which means the company can deploy stable and secure connectivity in a short space of time to get a business up and running on broadband, with speed options from 50 Mb/s to 200 Mb/s, depending on the site.

The solution uses auto-convergent beamforming, which means that radios can transmit signals to each other without line of sight and only need to be pointed in the approximate direction of the base node.

Beamforming improves the signal-to-noise ratio of received signals, reduces interference sources and focuses transmitted signals on specific locations. Beamforming also helps maintain reliable connectivity in poor weather conditions, the company said.

“Hypersync is a high-speed, low latency solution that offers enterprise clients dedicated connection and low-contention ratios. The technology enables us to deploy reliable broadband services even to sites where obstructions and communications on unlicensed spectrums might interfere.

“The radios we are using are long range and non-line-of-sight capable, making it possible to deliver coverage even in regions where hills, existing buildings or interference inhibit the deployment of traditional fixed-wireless services,” says Nashua Kopano connectivity and voice business unit manager Hettie Botha.

“It is a cost-effective solution that can be rapidly deployed, enabling us to offer uncapped, dedicated broadband services in a range of areas, such as those where cable theft is a problem or where there is no existing fibre infrastructure,” she adds.

The solution also provides multiprotocol label switching and software-defined wide area network capabilities, an international breakout on a proven network, encryption and security features, and access to 24/7 network management support team.
