New Audi South Africa head led significant change in dealership model in Singapore
Markus Schuster has been appointed as the new head of Audi South Africa (SA).
Schuster joins Audi SA with more than two decades of global automotive experience across Germany, Italy and Singapore.
Most recently, he served as Audi Singapore MD, where he led the transformation of the subsidiary into Audi’s first direct-to-customer franchise worldwide.
According to The Business Times, this model redefined the role of the dealership in Singapore.
The new omni-channel model allows consumers to choose how they wish to purchase their cars.
They can either buy their Audi entirely online through a new digital platform, or, for those who prefer human interaction, the car maker has opened a showroom concept located in the heart of Singapore.
The traditional dealership model is not completely disappearing, though, says Audi.
While new car sales are handled directly by the German premium brand, its long-time partner in Singapore, Premium Auto, continues to manage after-sales services.
“I feel honoured to take on the role of head of Audi SA,” comments Schuster.
“South Africa is not only Audi's biggest market on the continent, but also offers a dynamic, sophisticated and challenging automotive landscape.
“I look forward to working with our local team to continue building Audi’s presence and delivering progressive premium mobility solutions for our customers.”
Schuster’s appointment comes as Audi SA prepares to launch 21 new models over the next two years.
These include the new Audi Q7 and Q8 range, the refreshed Audi A3 range, the all-new Audi A5 sedan, as well as the new Audi Q3 and Audi Q5, set to follow next year.
