Advanced engineering manufacturer Danfoss has successfully added its IC2 and IC7 drives, released in the final quarter of last year, to its existing VLT and VACON range of drives.

The drives will be manufactured in China, Finland, Denmark and the US, depending on the configuration of the product, and will then be distributed to the African market through engineering solutions provider BMG’s network.

As the only Danfoss DrivePro service partner in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, BMG says the product variety that Danfoss offers is so extensive that it can be configured for most industries and conditions.

“Clients approve of the brand as it is user-friendly, reliable and packed with features that address the client’s needs,” says BMG Electronics business unit manager David Dyce.

He says many companies need certification before any service can be conducted on site, and with BMG teams’ extensive experience and specialised training, it is well-positioned to meet these requirements.

Dyce points out that the various configurations have driven the advancement of additional standards and certifications, which clients might need for their application.

BMG also offers specialised training to clients and shares expert knowledge about advanced Danfoss technologies that can enhance plant productivity.

Benefits of these support services include the DrivePro extended warranty, which lengthens the standard warranty provided by up to six years. This warranty offers customers a predictable maintenance budget by creating cost-saving solutions and avoiding unforeseen repair costs.

The DrivePro retrofit service involves the professional management of the end of product life cycle when replacing alternating current drives and ensures a smooth transition to the latest technology.

The service, which ensures optimal uptime and enhanced productivity during the replacement process, encompasses an audit of the current environment, and meticulous planning for the upgrade and delivery of the required retrofitted kit into the existing environment.

Danfoss DrivePro services, which cover the entire life cycle of Danfoss and VACON drives, are designed to improve productivity and performance, minimising downtime and providing peace of mind for users.

The programme consists of various divisions, including DrivePro Spares, DrivePro Exchange, DrivePro Preventive Maintenance, DrivePro Site Assessment and DrivePro Life Cycle Services.

“BMG’s dedicated Danfoss VLT and VACON product specialists are supported by its technical resources team,” says Dyce.

The team, therefore, can optimise predictive maintenance for application field services by addressing mobile breakdowns and on-site maintenance for Danfoss drives.

Dyce says through the DrivePro programme, clients have the assurance that the company meets the demanding standards required by Danfoss.

Further, BMG has made a significant investment in distribution, engineering facilities and technical skills in strategic parts of Africa.

The investment includes the development of electronic workshops and a technical resource centre for the repair, maintenance and commissioning of Danfoss VLT and VACON products and services.

With the high cost and constant shortage of energy, as well as South Africa’s drive to decarbonisation, the Danfoss drive product offering has never been more relevant to the local market, Dyce concludes.
