Firm introduces new hydrocarbon freezer

SD1140-HC-CE COOLER The cooler is equipped with a hydrocarbon R290 refrigerant and high-performance heat exchangers for powerful cooling
Exhibiting its latest technological advancements in the refrigeration sector, including four innovations, at this year’s FRIGAIR exhibition – to be held at the Gallagher Convention Centre from June 4 to 6 – South African manufacturer of self-contained commercial fridges and freezers Staycold International is calling on attendees to witness its recent manufacturing advancements that help optimise performance while reducing environmental impact.
Staycold’s hydrocarbon freezer technology will be on display with a new single door full height freezer. As an extension of the range, Staycold’s newest freezer uses hydrocarbon R290 gas, a natural refrigerant with a low global warming potential.
All Staycold’s new coolers are manufactured with R290 gas and the company is expanding its use into its freezer range following recent compressor developments by its supplier which ensure the freezers meet performance requirements.
Additionally, Staycold will host a live demonstration of the energy saving benefits of its hydrocarbon coolers with live power readings of the two units, one equipped with a hydrocarbon refrigerant system and the other with a hydrofluorocarbon-based system.
Staycold says that both coolers – the SD1140-HC-CE and SD1140-CE – will be on display side by side, with real-time readings from their time at the show, with the aim of quantifying the energy savings over that period.
Further, the company will showcase its telemetry system, in collaboration with its technology partner Digital Twin, which offers the Coolt technology.
The telemetry system showcase will allow delegates to experience how companies can remotely monitor, locate and control thousands of units in real-time, anywhere in the world, using the cloud. Features like Tower/Wi-Fi location tracking, geofencing, and automated alerts will be discussed to demonstrate how businesses can optimise performance, cut energy costs and increase productivity with the help of the system.
The company’s Fast Lane Cooler, which is a nationwide technology across South Africa, will also be on display owing to its accumulated successes since its launch at FRIGAIR 2022.
“We are looking forward to showcasing the future of refrigeration and our forward-thinking technology to industry professionals. We will also be sharing our environmental, social and governance journey progress and factory expansion progress – with Phase 1 due to be completed [before] FRIGAIR.”
The company will also provide guidance on the regulatory environment surrounding its products through its work and collaboration with entities such as verification company SGS, the South African Bureau of Standards, the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications and the International Electrotechnical Commission, says Staycold MD Lena le Roux.
