New online information hub on South African scrap metal industry launched
A new online platform called MyScrapMatters has been launched, acting as a single centralised hub to provide comprehensive information about the scrap metal industry in South Africa.
The aim of the website is to assist in regulating scrap metal in the country by promoting transparency and addressing theft. The website also aims to promote sustainability in the scrap metal industry.
The content on the website, which can be found at https://myscrapmatters.com, is reviewed and managed by international trade consultancy XA Global Trade Advisors to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data provided.
“While data is abundant on the Internet, there is not a single centralised hub specifically for scrap-related content,” XA director Donald Mackay said on July 19, noting that the scrap metal industry in South Africa was an important contributor to national GDP, bringing in between R15-billlion and R20-billion a year, with about 2.5-million to 3-million tonnes of scrap metal recycled yearly.
The website features data aggregation, wherein XA curates and consolidates information, ensuring users have easy access to relevant content without the need to search multiple sites.
MyScrapMatters also has a dedicated news and updates section which is aimed at keeping stakeholders informed with updates on market trends, regulatory changes and industry developments.
The website also provides access to a resource library, which allows users to explore gazettes, legislation and other essential documents related to scrap metal.
