Nissan Navara Warrior takes on Spirit of Africa challenge

Automotive manufacturer Nissan’s recently launched Navara PRO-4X Warrior will serve as the official 4x4 of the Nissan Spirit of Africa Trophy driving challenge, now in its twenty-first year and the third edition under the Nissan banner, showcasing the Warrior’s capabilities on the challenge’s course at the Sandwani Game Lodge in Gauteng. Nadine Ramdass has the story.

As the flagship variant of Nissan’s Navara range, the Navara PRO-4X Warrior is specially enhanced for rugged performance and is well-equipped to tackle the challenge’s demanding obstacles, ranging from high-speed rally-type segments to tight manoeuvres through harsh terrain.

Developed in partnership with Australian engineering firm Premcar, the Navara Warrior is locally manufactured at Nissan’s Rosslyn plant, in Pretoria, for the African market and boasts a 2.5-litre DDTi turbo-diesel engine, producing 140 kW of power and 450 Nm of torque.

Since the Warrior’s launch in South Africa in March this year, Nissan has received a positive response from customers.

Alongside showcasing the Navara Warrior’s capabilities, Nissan is currently preparing for the arrival of the Navara Stealth in July this year, which is anticipated to continue momentum in the range.
