Name of the Project
North Field South (NFS) offshore pipelines and cables project.

Location
Qatar.

Project Owner/s
QatarEnergy LNG.

Project Description
The North Field East (NFE) development will provide feed gas into four new liquefied natural gas (LNG) trains, together with the North Field South (NFS) infrastructure, which will provide feed gas for the two  additional  future LNG trains, and allow for an increase in total LNG production in Qatar from 77-million to 142-million tonnes a year.

The project includes the fabrication and installation of eight wellhead topsides for NFE and five wellhead topsides for NFS.

The significant subsea pipeline scope includes more than 500 km of pipelines and the installation more than 225 km of 33 kV subsea cables and associated works.

Latest Developments
McDermott has been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract by QatarEnergy LNG.

The contract is in addition to the awards received earlier by McDermott for the pipelines’ front-end engineering design (FEED), the NFS (jackets engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI), and the North Field expansion project (NFXP) topsides and pipelines, which included the NFS topsides.

The scope of the contract comprises EPCI of almost 250 km of offshore and onshore gas pipelines, connecting five new offshore wellhead platforms with two new onshore LNG trains, in addition to subsea composite power and control cables.

The project will be managed from the McDermott Doha office, with in-country fabrication support from the Qatar Fabrication Company yard, and will be installed using McDermott's in-house marine assets.

Key Contracts, Suppliers and Consultants
McDermott International (NFS pipelines FEED, the NFS jackets EPCI, and the NFXP topsides and pipelines, including the NFS topsides).
