Proudly South African Canvas TV merges design and technology
A new television (TV) line that offers an immersive cinematic experience and an Art Mode that mimics the look and feel of real canvas art, is now available and locally manufactured in South Africa.
Produced at Hisense SA’s facility in Atlantis, in the Western Cape, the purpose-built CanvasTV range is available in 55-inch and 65-inch models (55S7N and 65S7N).
The TV features 4K (indicating a horizontal resolution of approximately 4 000 pixels), quantum dot light emitting diode, or QLED, and quantum dot colour, Dolby Vision, and an anti-glare ‘hi-matte’ display. The technology delivers high-resolution display and clear, sharp images.
The Art Mode transforms the TV into a framed artwork when not in use. Whether displaying artwork, textured digital paintings, or family photos and photography, the screen mimics the look and feel of real canvas art – even down to the texture. An integrated teak magnetic frame enhances the illusion, and optional frame colours can be matched to specific interior styles. An ‘UltraSlim’ wall mount allows the TV to hang flush against the wall, similar to a framed artwork.
Running on Google TV, CanvasTV gives the user access to over 700 000 TV shows and movies, and more than 800 free live channels. It also integrates effortlessly into smart homes, supporting Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit. Fast Wi-Fi, high-definition multimedia interface enhanced audio return channel, or HDMI eARC, and intuitive controls also aim to enhance user experience.
Hisense SA affirms that its revolutionary new TV line fuses high-end design with premium performance while supporting local jobs and ensuring world-class quality rooted in South African innovation.
“CanvasTV is not only a beautiful, intelligent TV – it’s a proud symbol of what we can produce right here in South Africa,” says Hisense SA deputy GM Luna Nortjie. “We’re building world-class technology locally, empowering South Africans to experience design and entertainment that reflects their lifestyles and values.”
The locally made Hisense CanvasTV is now available at select retailers nationwide.
