Schneider Electric South Africa, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has unveiled its cutting-edge Altivar Process ATV6100 Medium Voltage (MV) Drive range, designed to enhance energy efficiency and operational reliability across various industries.

Didier Kayembe, Schneider Electric Offer Manager, Variable Speed Drives and Speed Drive Systems – Anglophone Africa, explains that the ATV6100 MV Drive is a complementary offering to Schneider Electric’s existing ATV6000 MV drive range.

“The new Altivar Process ATV6100 enhances our portfolio with a more compact and optimised design, along with versatile features that guarantee energy-efficient operations in Energy & Chemicals (E&C) and Water/Wastewater (WWW) industries,” says Kayembe.

The ATV6100 prioritises space optimisation and versatile performance, making it the ideal choice for applications demanding a compact footprint and precise motor control. This focus on versatility translates to several key benefits for operations, including reduced footprint, high performance and versatile performance and tailored engineering solutions.

Applications

Kayembe notes that the ATV6100 covers power ranges from 150kW to 13 500kW and voltage from 2.4kV up to 11kV, providing optimal solutions for MV drive applications. The reduced kilowatt and kilovolt rating (from 160-20 000kW and 2.4-13.8kV in the ATV6000 offering) provides a more cost and energy-efficient solution for lower-range applications.

“The ATV6100 is therefore a complementary offering that is more user-friendly in terms of a smaller footprint and is essentially a response to the needs of our customers. Additionally, it features a modular design that allows for easy compartmentalisation and quicker repair of individual parts,” says Kayembe.

The Altivar Process ATV6100 is ideal for applications in various segments, including:

  • Water/Wastewater applications: Raw water pumps, lifting stations, blowers/compressors, booster pumps and high-pressure pumps.
  • Energy & Chemical applications: ESP, crude oil transfer pumps, pipeline compressors, ID/FD fans, extruders and mixers.

Simplified installation

“ATV6100 optimises space, simplifies installation and boosts energy efficiency, reducing long-term investment and operating expenses while maximising value. The robust design, versatile compatibility and seamless integration of the ATV6100 empower process optimisation, leading to enhanced system uptime, reduced equipment stress and a more efficient operation,” says Kayembe.

“The intuitive interface, digital connectivity, and service-friendly modular design of the ATV6100 streamline operations with faster troubleshooting, simplified maintenance, and maximised uptime.”

This innovative product marks a significant milestone in Schneider Electric's commitment to delivering sustainable solutions tailored to the needs of the Anglophone market in Africa.
