Local smart home technology startup Sensor Networks has secured a strategic partnership with Italy-based geyser manufacturer Ariston to bring smart water heating solutions to South African households this year.

The partnership follows months of rigorous product development, refinement and certification, culminating in the rollout of Ariston geysers integrated with Sensor Networks’ smart geyser devices to plumbing retailers in South Africa, Sensor Networks says.

The locally developed Sensor Connect mobile app gives homeowners direct control over their energy use, allowing them to monitor, manage and optimise household electricity consumption while securing significant savings on their energy bills.

“We developed a smart geyser solution that meets global standards as a local startup, and to have our technology integrated into Ariston’s product line is an incredible achievement. This collaboration enables us to scale our impact, helping thousands more South Africans reduce their energy costs and carbon footprint,” says Sensor Networks CEO Mark Allewell.

“Ariston is committed to providing sustainable, high-performance solutions. Sensor Networks’ smart geyser technology aligns perfectly with our vision of energy efficiency. By integrating their expertise into our products, we’re offering South African consumers a seamless, intelligent way to manage their energy use,” says Ariston country director Wayne Vertue.

In addition to benefiting homeowners, the smart geyser solution will also help property developers by providing a scalable, remote energy management tool for large-scale residential projects.

With more than 12 000 South African households already using Sensor Networks’ smart geyser devices, this milestone partnership with Ariston, which is the second-largest water heating manufacturer in South Africa, is set to accelerate adoption, placing locally developed smart technology at the forefront of the country’s energy efficiency drive, Sensor Networks says.
