Janice Finlay
Economic Development Manager
With over a decade of experience in the renewable energy sector, Finlay has contributed to some of South Africa’s most significant energy projects. She bridges technical execution with meaningful social progress through expert stakeholder engagement, building trust and securing buy-in from government and local communities.
With a principled approach, Finlay designs systems that align with public sector priorities while promoting social stability. She is known for translating policy into practical, long-term outcomes that address local economic needs. Her focus is on creating enduring community investments rooted in dignity.
Deeply committed to renewable energy, Finlay views each project as a chance to unlock access—bringing infrastructure, funding, and hope to under served areas. For her, leadership is a daily responsibility. “Leadership is a privilege and not a right,” she says. “I must earn it daily in my actions in the arena.”
Shaida Leeman
Human Resources Manager
As the Human Resources Manager for Africa at Seriti Green, Leeman has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s HR strategies and initiatives. Her strong commitment to fostering a positive work environment and promoting sustainable practices has significantly contributed to the company’s success.
Leeman’s professional journey is defined by her dedication to developing and implementing comprehensive policies that support employee well-being and growth. Her efforts have helped create a safe, supportive, and empowering workplace for all.

Mukondeleli Makoya
Senior Project Developer
Having built a dynamic career in the renewable energy sector, Makoya is driven by her passion for sustainable development. Now a senior project developer, she leads the development of a solar PV project aligned with South Africa’s Just Energy Transition strategy, located in a former coal mining area. Her responsibilities span the full project lifecycle—from land securement and permitting, to financial close.
Makoya began her career as a registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner, spending over eight years conducting environmental impact assessments for major mining and construction projects. She remains deeply committed to clean energy innovation and responsible environmental management.
Equally passionate about mentorship, she encourages young professionals to pursue careers that bring purpose and fulfillment, reminding them: “It’s never too late to change direction.”
Theresa Ferguson
Project Developer Specialist
Having contributed to Seriti Green as a Project Developer since 2022, Ferguson brings extensive experience in project development and management. She is responsible for planning and securing permits for solar photovoltaic sites, both on rehabilitated mine land and greenfield locations, while supporting projects like the Ummbila Emoyeni wind energy facility through to financial close. With over a decade of experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and demand side management, Ferguson brings a well-rounded perspective to sustainable project delivery. Her foundation in environmental studies continues to inform her work and professional growth. She is proud to have built her career alongside talented women in the industry and shares this message: “Grow your skills, trust your voice, and lead with purpose.”
Setisha Reddy
Group Finance Manager
A qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) with nearly a decade of post-articles experience spanning assurance, consulting and commercial finance roles, Reddy currently serves as the Group Finance Manager at Seriti Green, with operations in South Africa and East Africa. In this role, Reddy provides strategic financial leadership across multi-jurisdictional operations, overseeing financial planning, reporting, cash flow optimisation, procurement, risk and compliance.
She has previously worked across diverse industries including manufacturing, vehicle retail, explosives, and industrial services, locally and across Africa. She is passionate about building sustainable finance teams, driving efficient processes, and embedding governance-focused systems that support long-term value creation in emerging markets.
Having worked in historically male-dominated industries, Reddy believes that showing up as your true self takes both courage and strength. She is committed to mentoring young professionals and champions inclusive, ethical leadership as a foundation for sustainable growth.
Debbie Weldon
Project Manager, Development
With over 25 years of experience in the environmental sector, Weldon has dedicated her career to promoting sustainable development and protecting natural resources. Her expertise spans regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that projects meet legal requirements while fostering community involvement and environmental responsibility.
In her current role, she oversees permitting and land securement for the development of renewable energy facilities. She has played a key role in Seriti Green’s flagship Ummbila Emoyeni wind energy facility in Mpumalanga, now in its initial construction phase. Weldon believes women in South African business bring essential insights and strengths. By supporting one another and sharing knowledge, she says, they can drive industry growth and inspire the next generation of leaders.
Hilletje Verster
Civil Engineer
Since graduating from the University of Pretoria in 2016, Verster has been working on construction sites. She currently serves as a Civil Engineer at Seriti Green, based at the Ummbila Emoyeni wind energy facility construction site. Her role focuses on ensuring the quality of all civil structures, including wind turbine foundations, roads and water management systems, critical components for a safe and efficient wind energy facility.
She emphasises that quality control is not a single step but a continuous process that begins at the design phase and extends through construction and the entire lifespan of the structure. With meticulous attention to detail, Verster oversees every stage to uphold the highest standards. To women in engineering and construction, she offers this advice: “If you prove your worth, nobody can deny that you belong.”
Busisiwe Hadebe
Environmental Officer
As an accomplished Environmental Officer with over 12 years of experience in environmental management across the construction and engineering sectors, Hadebe's diverse background spans property development, renewable energy, oil and gas, water and sanitation infrastructure, and coal energy projects. She has consistently demonstrated strong leadership in ensuring environmental compliance on high-impact initiatives. In her current role at Seriti Green, Hadebe supports the Ummbila Emoyeni wind energy facility project, where she collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders to uphold environmental standards. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography and Environmental Management and is currently enrolled in the Management Development Programme at Wits Business School—sponsored by the South African Wind Energy Association and Seriti Green. She is also a member of the International Association for Impact Assessment South Africa, which fosters collaboration among environmental professionals.Her message to women in South African business: “Be the leader you wish you had at the start of your career.”
