A new virtual mobile network operator (MVNO), C-Connect, has launched in South Africa, with ambitions of bringing more choice and competition to South Africa’s mobile subscribers.

Leveraging C-Cell’s network infrastructure, C-Connect aims to provide quality, cost-effective prepaid mobile services.

“With the South African consumer’s finances under immense pressure, we anticipate strong demand for our MVNO offering. We are excited to connect consumers with rewards and businesses with new ways to make their customers happy,” said C-Connect chief operating officer Richard Anderson.

The SIM-only brand features a rewards programme, with subscribers earning 10% back in its in-app currency, Cha-Ching, when they top-up their prepaid airtime or data.

Cha-Chings can be exchanged for a wide variety of lifestyle products and services, including products such as prepaid electricity or water and data, tickets for events and gaming vouchers.

“What sets us apart in a competitive market is that we offer people meaningful rewards for buying voice and data, an essential everyone needs. It is the most rewarding connection for South African cellular subscribers with no fuss and no frills, just a straightforward and simple way to access a world of prepaid services with added benefits,” he said.

New subscribers can sign up and complete the full Rica process on the C-Connect app or website, with a SIM delivered to their door or selected pickup point or to be collected from an authorised distribution partner.

Airtime and data top-ups can be done through a USSD, the C-Connect app or website or by buying a voucher at a partner store.

Subscribers can also recharge with Ringas or Blu Voucher, a universal, single use, prepaid airtime voucher that allows subscribers to top-up their number.
