Southern African Vinyls Association
The Southern African Vinyls Association (SAVA) and the Southern African Plastic Pipe Manufacturers Association (SAPPMA) are pleased to announce their highly anticipated joint industry conference, taking place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the NH Johannesburg Hotel, in Sandton.
Under the theme ‘PVC Transformation: Driving Progress in a Changing World’, SAVA’s main conference promises to bring together over 150 senior decision-makers, influential players and key stakeholders from the PVC and broader plastics value chain — spanning manufacturing, raw material supply, construction, recycling and government.
Running alongside the SAVA event will be SAPPMA’s parallel sessions under the title ‘Pipelines of Progress’. Both these events offer a unique platform to explore trends, innovations and opportunities shaping the future of the industry.
Packed Programme, High Level Speakers
Delegates can look forward to an exciting line-up of international and local speakers, covering a diverse range of topics, including imports and exports, sustainability and recycling, new product developments and market trends.
Highlights from the programme include:
- ‘Seeking Societal Symbiosis for the Sustainable Use of Materials’ and ‘Additive Sustainability Footprint: A roadmap for the PVC industry’, delivered by keynote speaker and well-known author, scientist and broadcaster Dr Mark Everard from Pundamilia, in Wiltshire, UK.
- ‘Global Outlook of PVC’ , delivered by second keynote speaker Vinmar International head of global PVC sales and sourcing Jonathan Davies, from Liverpool, in the UK.
- ‘Flexible PVC: Made to Last’ by ExxonMobil Principal for Plasticizer Technology Andres Vargas, from Belgium.
- ‘Lab scale mixers and extruders for PVC applications’ by Anton Paar Technical Sales’ Thomas Weigang, from Germany.
Local presentations at the PVC parallel session will be delivered by various industry experts such as Sasol’s Jerrie Vermeulen, About Air Pollution’s Theunis Pos and South Ocean Electric Wire’s Tertius Ness.
“This year’s conference theme reflects the dynamic changes and opportunities in our sector. We are excited to showcase the latest developments, celebrate innovation, and foster collaboration across the entire value chain,” said SAVA CEO Monique Hinds.
The SAPPMA parallel session will feature equally compelling presentations on all aspects of plastic pipes – including PVC and HDPE – fittings and installations on topics such as pipeline solutions, infrastructure training, ensuring quality piping systems, and certification schemes aligned with international standards presented by SAPPMA’s Jacques van Eck, Rho-Tech’s Mike Schutte, Sun Ace SA’s Renier Snyman, Plastics SA’s Kirtida Bhana, Genesis Consulting’s Mike Smart and CEISLAB’s Justin Marsberg.
“We felt it made sense to join SAVA to provide the entire plastic pipe industry access to the latest ground-breaking and global perspectives on HDPE and PVC,” said SAPPMA CEO Jan Venter.
There will also be exhibitions and multiple opportunities to network with the key role-players in the PVC and pipes industries, culminating in a cocktail function at the end of the day where delegates can share insights and build meaningful connections.
