In a macroeconomic environment that continues to be shaped by shifting geopolitical dynamics, new tariff regimes and the reconfiguration of established trade routes - Africa’s role in the global economy is increasingly becoming pivotal.

Against this backdrop, Standard Bank is pleased to invite you to the launch of its latest Africa Trade Barometer (ATB). First launched in 2022, the report serves as a reflection of the trade conditions and business environment that shaped market sentiment during 2025. Conceived with the intent of creating Africa’s leading trade index, the ATB also provides a forward-looking view of the trade outlook, helping to address the often-cited information vacuum of reliable African trade data.

The ATB focuses on the 10 African markets: Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, which collectively account for approximately 66% of Sub-Sharan Africa’s total GDP.

The report's findings are anchored on the experiences of especially small and medium-sized businesses - assessing their trade activities, confidence levels and the barriers limiting greater cross-border participation.

Join us as we unpack the conditions that shaped the 2025 trade landscape, the prevailing market challenges as well the emerging opportunities that are prevalent across Africa’s trade ecosystems.
