Vumacam, Drone Force partnership to see drones deployed to fight crime
Camera surveillance company Vumacam and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), or drones, services company Drone Force have formed a partnership that will see Drone Force provide aerial intelligence in addition to Vumacam's ground-based systems.
Drone Force’s aerial intelligence complements and supports Vumacam’s platform-driven security solutions, extending coverage and strengthening proactive crime prevention strategies, says Vumacam CEO Ricky Croock.
Thus far, a Drone Force pilot identified a fire during an aerial patrol. A canine unit found a person allegedly burning stolen cables. During the operation, the drone monitored the scene while the ground units responded, ending in the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of allegedly stolen property.
“Drone Force provides security teams with a new vantage point and, when combined with Vumacam’s ground coverage, creates a complete picture that ensures criminals have nowhere to hide,” says Drone Force CEO David De Lima.
“This partnership is a natural extension of Vumacam’s mission to deliver world-class security intelligence,” adds Croock.
“With Drone Force, we combine ground-based intelligence with aerial intelligence, thereby ensuring faster interventions, smarter resource allocation and, ultimately, safer communities.
“This results in elevated protection, faster response times, and seamless coverage across both urban and private environments,” he says.
Drone Force deploys UASs that are compliant with regulator South African Civil Aviation Authority rules. They are housed in docking stations that enable remote operation, and can launch, land and recharge themselves, which ensures constant readiness in most weather conditions, day or night.
