At the Joystar 4S dealership in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, visitors are treated to a glimpse of a possible new era in car-buying as a humanoid robot enters the showroom floor.

Clad in a silver-grey exosuit, the humanoid robot welcomes guests, introduces vehicle features, serves beverages and assists in scheduling test drives.

This demonstration forms part of what Chinese car maker Chery says is its broader ambition to reimagine the car-buying journey.

The Chinese car maker described the AiMOGA Robot, co-developed by Chery and the AiMOGA team, as a highly intelligent humanoid.

As Chery’s first embodied intelligent humanoid, the AiMOGA Robot has taken on the role of an ‘Intelligent Sales Consultant’ and is making its official debut on the international stage.

The robot is equipped with an on-device multimodal sensing model that reacts to inputs such as vision and speech. This allows it to interpret user commands, physical gestures and the surrounding showroom environment.

The robot also leverages a bionic motion system and automotive-grade hardware to support upright walking and allow for dexterous hand operations.

It has also achieved multi-robot coordination, enabling collaborative tasks such as guided tours and reception services alongside other robots.

At the decision-making layer, the AiMOGA Robot harnesses the power of CheryGPT and Deepseek large models to understand natural language semantics and generate what is called personalised, context-aware responses.

The name AiMOGA merges the terms AI with MOGA (multi-objective genetic algorithm).

The AiMOGA Robot is now officially deployed at Chery 4S dealerships.

In this capacity, it is capable of conducting vehicle introductions, welcoming customers, guiding test drives and autonomously switching between tasks, all while supporting multilingual interactions.

In the future, the AiMOGA Robot is set to expand its presence into high human-machine interaction scenarios, such as shopping malls, exhibitions, cinemas and government service centres, says Chery.

It is also expected to enter spaces like homes, schools and eldercare facilities, “where companionship, empathy and adaptability are essential”.

Chery’s display at this year’s Auto Shanghai show was headlined by the debut of its AiMOGA Robot, where it was accompanied by a robotic dog.
