Align Technology, Inc. (“Align”) (Nasdaq: ALGN) a leading global medical device company that designs, manufactures, and sells the Invisalign® System of clear aligners, iTero™ intraoral scanners, and exocad™ CAD/CAM software for digital orthodontics and restorative dentistry, today announced expansion of its local presence and leadership appointment in South Africa, to offer advanced, technology-driven treatment solutions to more practitioners and patients nationwide.

As part of the growth, Align Technology has expanded its local team, including new sales roles and practitioner support functions, to better serve doctors and meet rising demand for orthodontic and restorative dental solutions. The company has also appointed Berenice Monzeglio as country manager of Align Technology, Sub-Saharan Africa, based in Johannesburg, to strengthen its local presence through an expanded team, including sales representatives, deeper practitioner engagement, and expanded research and training initiatives that will ensure that growth is supported by the expertise and capacity needed to optimise both practitioner and patient experiences.

Since Align Technology entered the market 28 years ago, the company has been revolutionising the dental industry by leveraging cutting-edge orthodontic technology, and now expanding its presence and focus in South Africa.

According to Market Research Future, in 2035, the global digital dentistry market valuation is expected to reach 17.7 billion USD. In developing countries such as South Africa, the integration of innovative dental technologies is also steadily gaining momentum as advanced dental technologies are becoming more prominently integrated into dental practices.

Digital dentistry offers benefits for both the clinical practice and the patient, such as improved treatment accuracy, enhanced patient comfort, more personalised care, and increased clinical efficiency. As a result, the adoption of digital dentistry tools has been on a increase and is set for rapid growth into the future.

“South Africa presents a growth opportunity for Align Technology, with increasing digital adoption, potential for development and rising demand for orthodontic treatments, driving the expansion of innovative dentistry solutions across the region,” said Angelo Maura, General Manager of Align Technology, Middle East & Africa. “In response, we are further strengthening our presence in South Africa with the same strategic focus areas on which we’ve built Align Technology’s global success: continuous innovation, doctor-led therapy, and product superiority.”

The appointment of Monzeglio marks a new chapter for Align Technology. “Align Technology is more than a medical device company; we are striving to be a strong, supportive partner for dental practitioners who want to give their patients healthier and more beautiful smiles. We look forward to providing world-class digital dentistry tools and solutions to even more South African practitioners for improved patient outcomes and practice efficiencies,” said Maura.

For more than  28 years, the Invisalign® System has been used by doctors to treat more than 21.4 million patients worldwide. As Align Technology expands its leadership in South Africa and invests further in digital dentistry, the Invisalign® System remains at the forefront of its offering.

“Align Technology innovations help improve patient-practitioner interactions. With a foundation of trust in the Invisalign® System, the most sought-after clear aligner system in the world, South African clinicians can guide patients towards achieving optimal quality of care,” explained Maura.

With more than 291,000 doctors worldwide, including a growing network of skilled South African practitioners, and the potential of a 600-million-strong consumer market globally, Align Technology is redefining orthodontics and restorative dentistry with smarter digital workflows that deliver faster, more precise, and more impactful results.

“Our expanded presence in South Africa underscores its commitment to empowering local practitioners and advancing the next wave of digital transformation in oral care,” concluded Maura.
