Alstom Ubunye appoints Logan Naicker as new CEO
Alstom Ubunye has announced the appointment of Logan Naicker as its new CEO.
Naicker has more than 25 years of experience in leadership roles in the rail and automotive industries, including Union Carriage and Wagon, Bombardier Transportation South Africa, Ford Motor Company and Toyota.
He joined Alstom Ubunye in 2018 as site MD and COO.
Naicker’s academic credentials include an MBA and Management Advancement Programme, among others.
“Recognised for his passion in creating and fostering a values-based, results-driven high-performance culture, Logan is known for his ability to lead and deliver exceptional results,” says Alstom.
“Under successive leadership roles in recent years, he brings expertise in business turnaround strategies, business process optimisation, lean/world class manufacturing and green field/brown field site strategies, among others.
“Logan’s broad leadership expertise place him in very strong stead to steer Alstom Ubunye into its new growth era.”
Alstom Ubunye currently has a contract to supply electrical and mechanical components to local train manufacturer, Gibela Rail.
Components include end-under-frames, bogies and bogie frames.
The electrical components include electrical boxes, such as the traction converter, static converter, as well as the HV box.
The site also makes looming products for the trains.
“I am honoured to lead our organisation into its next phase of growth and evolution,” says Naicker.
“I have a positive outlook on life and strive to achieve and deliver at every opportunity afforded.
“Our company is well positioned for future rail projects in the passenger rail market and the locomotive industry.
“With our vision firmly in focus – to be a world class provider of mobility solutions for Africa and beyond, by Africa – I look forward to working with our fantastic team to ensure Alstom Ubunye entrenches its position within the mobility solutions sector for the long term,” he adds.
Alstom is the majority shareholder of four major joint ventures (JVs) in South Africa, namely Alstom Ubunye JV, Gibela Rail JV, Bombardier Transportation South Africa JV and Bombela Maintenance JV.
