ASX-listed DevEx Resources has appointed Marnie Finlayson as MD, effective December 1, as the company prepares for the next stage of growth across its uranium and rare earths portfolio.

Finlayson joins DevEx after a long career with Rio Tinto, where she held senior global leadership roles across operations, strategy and project development. Most recently, she served as MD – battery materials, overseeing Rio Tinto’s battery materials strategy and the acquisition of the Rincon lithium project in Argentina.

She is also a graduate of the WA School of Mines and a minerals processing engineer.

Her earlier roles with Rio Tinto included head of operating models, senior positions within the group’s iron-ore, salt and Robe River operations, and leadership roles in previous stints with Anglo Coal Australia, Western Metals and Coal and Allied. Finlayson has been a nonexecutive director of Northern Star Resources since 2022 and is recognised as a champion of diversity and inclusion within the resources sector.

She replaces Todd Ross, who is stepping down to focus on Bedrock Credit Partners, a natural resources credit and advisory firm he co-founded, and to pursue broader directorship opportunities.

DevEx chairperson Tim Goyder said Finlayson’s global experience and strategic capability positioned her well to lead the company as it advances its district-scale uranium assets in the Northern Territory and progresses the Kennedy rare earths project in Queensland.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Marnie as managing director,” Goyder said. “She brings strong leadership credentials, commercial acumen and a proven ability to drive value in complex operating environments.”

Goyder thanked Ross for his contribution, noting his role in repositioning DevEx over the past year and progressing the Nabarlek uranium project review alongside new opportunity assessments.
