Project Description
The El-Dabaa NPP will be the first nuclear power plant in Egypt. The project will involve the construction of an NPP comprising four Russian-designed VVER-1200 pressurised water reactors.

With a nameplate capacity of 4.8 GWe, the plant is expected to account for up to 50% of Egypt’s power generation capacity to meet the country’s increasing demand for electricity.

Latest Developments
Approval for the construction of the second nuclear reactor of the El Dabaa NPP has been granted by the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA), in principle.

This follows a series of site inspections by ENRRA officials. The applications to build El Dabaa Unit 3 and Unit 4 were submitted to ENRRA in January.
