Brazil-based major aerospace group Embraer has reported that it delivered 57 civilian jets during the third quarter of this year (3Q24), which was a 33% increase, year-on-year (y-o-y). It also represented a 24% increase, quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q). It further delivered two military jets.

The group also reported that its total backlog increased more than 25% y-o-y, and nearly 10% q-o-q, to reach $22.7-billion. This is the highest level that it has reached in nine years. The biggest increase in backlog was reported by Embraer Defence & Security, which recorded a rise of $1.5-billion, with Services & Support coming next, with an increase of $367-million. However, both Commercial Aviation and Executive Aviation reported slight decreases in the values of their order backlogs, by -$168-million and -$184-million, respectively.

The total order backlog value for Defence & Security at the end of 3Q24 was $3.6-billion. This was an increase of 69%, y-o-y, and of 70%, q-o-q. This was propelled by the signing of a firm joint contract with Austria and the Netherlands for nine C-390 Millenium multirole military airlift aircraft, and with separate sales contracts with Paraguay and Uruguay for A-29 Super Tucano turboprop light attack aircraft.

The total backlog for Services & Support in 3Q24 was $3.5-billion, a 27% rise, y-o-y, and a 12% increase, q-o-q. The backlog for Commercial Aviation was $11.1-billion, up 29% y-o-y, but down marginally (-1%) q-o-q. For Executive Aviation, the backlog had a value of $4.4-billion, a rise of 3% y-o-y, but a decrease of -4%, q-o-q.

In terms of aircraft deliveries, 3Q24 saw the group deliver two C-390s – the seventh one for Brazil and the first one for Hungary. It also delivered 16 of its small single-aisle airliners and 41 executive jets.

The airliner deliveries were composed of ten E195-E2s (the group’s largest civil aircraft type), two E190-E2s and four E175s (its smallest airliner type still in production). At the end of 3Q24, the company had a firm order backlog of 172 E195-E2s, 27 E190-E2s, and 175 E175s, or 374 in all.

The business jet deliveries were subdivided into 19 medium and 22 light jets. The medium jets comprised nine Praetor 500s and ten Praetor 600s. The light jets were four Phenom 100s and 18 Phenom 300s.
