Fuel efficient equipment launched
MEETING INDUSTRY DEMANDS The Hyundai Robex R180LC-9S excavator can generate bigger digging power in proportion to its working pressure and cylinder bore size
Following the launch of its fuel efficient robust Hyundai Robex R180LC-9S excavator in South Africa earlier this year, earthmoving equipment distributor and manufacturer High Power Equipment Africa (HPE Africa) plans to market the product, owing to its fuel efficiency in the local environment.
“These high power machines have been engineered for optimum performance, precision control and enhanced operator safety. This model boasts the highest fuel efficiency in the industry’s 20 t class – an increasingly important feature as fuel prices continue to rise,” states HPE MD Alex Ackron.
The R180 series, which is fitted with a specially manufactured bucket for the local market, has an operating weight of 19.1 t and operates in the 20 t class range. Additionally, the Hyundai Robex R180LC-9S excavators are particularly well suited for demanding applications in plant hire, civil engineering, construction and agriculture, he highlights.
Ackron says the excavator is designed with a pump flow, working pressure and a cylinder size that ensures maximum efficiency and performance.
According to research by Hyundai Heavy Industries on Pascal’s principle, it was found that the Hyundai Robex R180LC-9S excavator can generate bigger digging power in proportion to its working pressure and cylinder bore size and, thus, exert greater power than the excavators of competitors, he says.
Further, Ackron mentions that a computer-aided power optimisation Capo system ensures the optimum level of engine power and hydraulic flow for every application. The system also provides complete diagnostic features and digital gauges for critical information.
The operating modes of the Capo system are P (power max, which increases machine speed and power), S (standard mode, which provides reduced, fixed revolutions per minute for increased fuel savings and improved control) and E (economy mode, which provides precise flow and power, based on load demand).
“Hyundai Robex R180LC-9S excavators are fitted with air-cooled six cylinder Tier II diesel engines, with class-leading fuel efficiency equating to as much as 100% of the purchase price during the recommended useful life of the machine,” he concludes.
