Water-jetting solutions provider Total Blasting says its ultrahigh-pressure jetting units are suitable for applications in industries such as petrochemicals (refineries), marine, offshore oil and gas, and automotive manufacturing plants.

The units range between 1 000 bar and 2 800 bar and are available in either diesel or electric driven motors.

“We pride ourselves in offering a solution to increase productivity, efficiencies and safety by matching the correct water-jetting system with the correct semi or automated tooling,” says Total Blasting sales director Bradley Storer.

He mentions that it is sometimes challenging to convince asset owners and end-users of the benefits of hands-free cleaning, owing to it being more expensive, albeit more beneficial across the board for safety, productivity and efficiency.

Storer also points out that refineries are among the most challenging industries to serve, owing to the quantity and variety of industrial cleaning required.

Total Blasting distributes products, including pumps, parts, accessories and safety equipment, from brands such as Jetstream, StoneAge, Peinemann and TST Sweden.

Storer notes that typical applications for its high-pressure equipment for industrial cleaning include the cleaning of tubes and tube bundles, pipes, cooling towers, tanks, ship hulls, kilns, grates and floors. They also include stack cleaning, facilities maintenance, automotive paint booth cleaning,  surface preparation and underwater cleaning.

Further, Storer points out that Total Blasting’s supplying Jetstream’s UNx fluid end technology is at the heart of every Jetstream waterjetting pump, as this technology has provided many plants and industrial cleaning contractors with simple and flexible waterjetting capability, he says.

The UNx technology allows for repairs to be completed quickly in the field, eliminating downtime. It can also be easily reconfigured to use higher pressure or flow.

The UNx unit consists of a uni-valve cartridge, with self-contained suction and discharge-valve assembly, a slip-fit for easy maintenance and an in-line design to minimise turbulence. It also has a swing-down manifold for easy access to valves and weep holes indicate sources of seal leaks.

Additionally, the UNx has clamp-style plungers which are specifically designed for the rigours associated with each operating pressure and a clamp-on design for easy maintenance. It also contains a plunger packing set, available in a three-piece or one-piece packing, tapered for easy removal and water-lubricated.

Moreover, Storer states that many variables determine the most suitable equipment for use in tube and pipe cleaning, including size, budget and time constraints, tube diameter and length, deposit adhesion and hardness, as well as whether the tubes are straight or bent, its orientation and whether the pipes will be removed or cleaned in place.

Therefore, Total Blasting supplies an assortment of tube and pipe cleaning equipment, from simple manual tools to large-scale automated systems.
