The new Hürner CNC ECO 2.0 computer numerically controlled (CNC) plastic pipe butt-welding machine range available from the company Plasti-tech, is a high-quality and durable, next generation pipe butt-welding machine.
The 12 models, each offering different welding ranges, can be transported to any work site that requires thermoplastic pipes to be welded. Plasti-tech managing member Brad Chamont explains that the Hürner ECO CNC 2.0 machine offers error-proof and user-friendly radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, which makes it unique.
Operating the welding machines does not require previous qualifications, with training for each model being done at the Plasti-tech warehouse in Edenvale, Johannesburg.
“ . . . Hürner welding machine repairs and maintenance is done in Plasti-tech’s workshop by a trained technician,” he adds.
“We import stock using both air freight and sea freight shipping. When using air-freight, machine and spare part orders take between two and three weeks to get to South Africa. When sea-freight shipping our machine and spares stock, delivery takes up to two months,” he explains.
Technical specifications
Chamont says the largest Hürner CNC ECO 2.0 machine can butt-weld pipes up to 1 600 mm, and is capable of welding pressure of 220 bar. The machines’ use of an RFID system ensures that unauthorised access is not permitted, subsequently increasing safety.
He explains that because the machines operate using high welding pressure and large pipes, the design of the machines takes operator safety into account. One of the main safety features of the machines is the bypass valve on the hydraulic system which has to be opened to release pressure before the operator can inspect the machine and the weld.
“We recommend that when the welder is operating the control box of the machine that there be no interference by a second person in the welding zone due to high pressure and temperature being used during the welding process. We recommend to our clients that only one person should be operating the welding machine during the welding process,” he concludes.
