Komatsu makes Smart Construction Remote ‘standard’ for all its machine control and guidance systems

Digitalisation across earthmoving and construction has taken a step forward following the latest announcement from Komatsu. Smart Construction Remote will now be available as a standard with all purchases of Komatsu-branded guidance and control systems.
This includes Intelligent Machine Control (iMC), Smart Construction 3D Machine Guidance, and the newly launched PC220LCi-12, which features iMC 3.0 technology. This initiative applies for the entire lifetime of the machine, reinforcing Komatsu’s commitment to digital innovation and job site efficiency.
Smart Construction Remote is a cloud-based solution that enables users to access and control both Komatsu and non-Komatsu machine guidance and control systems remotely.
Bart Vvingerhoets, Senior Commercial Manager at Komatsu Smart Construction explains: “Remote enhances troubleshooting speed and efficiency, reducing downtime and improving operational performance. Additionally, design files can be sent to machines even when they are turned off, ensuring seamless coordination between the office and the field.
“By enabling remote access to machines, Smart Construction Remote also minimises the need for site visits, leading to lower fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions. These benefits are particularly valuable for companies managing multiple job sites.”
In Europe alone, this solution has saved customers over 40,000 trips to their sites in the past three years and has consistently achieved strong double-digit growth figures for the past five years.
The brand-agnostic nature of Smart Construction Remote underscores Komatsu’s ongoing efforts to prioritize interoperability and ease of digital transformation, fostering innovation and accelerating the adoption of smart technologies.
By making Smart Construction Remote a standard, Komatsu enhances fleet connectivity and supports customers in optimizing their workflows as they transition to more digital operations. This initiative reflects Komatsu’s commitment to advancing technologies that promote sustainability, efficiency, and safety across the industry.
