Specialist valves distributor Astore Keymak has added two new valves to its portfolio to offer ease of installation.

Astore Keymak compression fittings and saddles product manager Aldrin Velan tells Engineering News that the check valve and stop cock valve were introduced to the company’s range in February and April respectively.

The valves are compatible with low- and high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and are made to meet European Standards 12201, International Organisation for Standardisation 4427, Deutsche Institut von Normen 8074 and UNI 7990.

The valves were designed and are manufactured in Italy by valves supplier Unidelta and can be installed into any system by simply cutting into an HDPE pipe and installing the valve.

Velan says that, in some system configurations, which include a valve and male adaptor, the flow in the system can be restricted. He points out that these configurations run the risk of leaks if the valves and adaptors are not threaded correctly.

“The check valve is one integrated unit, which negates any restrictions and the possibility of leaks,” he enthuses.

The valve also permits flow in one direction only, automatically preventing backflow.

The check valve and stop cock valve have the capacity to convey water at about 16 bar at 20 ºC, while the latter opens and closes by means of a knob, which allows for the gradual adjustment of flow in the system, adds Velan.

He concludes that the stop cock valves will be used in plumbing applications where flow needs to be controlled.
