Fuel retail company Puma Energy has appointed Amanda Lopez as South Africa GM to lead its operations in the country, as it aims to expand its presence and customer offering.

“Amanda’s deep understanding of South Africa’s fuel retail landscape and her record in operational excellence make her a tremendous addition to our leadership team,” says Puma Energy Africa head Ben Ouattara.

“As fuel demand and customer needs evolve, her leadership will help accelerate our growth in South Africa and reinforce Puma Energy’s commitment to providing dependable energy solutions and quality services across South Africa.”

Lopez has 20 years of industry experience with fuel company Shell in South Africa, where she held leadership roles across various areas of the business, including retail, transport, operations and health, safety, security and the environment.

Her expertise in downstream energy operations, retail and business management will support Puma Energy’s growth plans to expand its operations in South Africa, Ouattara says.

The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources states that demand for transportation fuels in South Africa is forecast to grow to between 24% and 37% of total energy demand by 2050.

This growth represents an opportunity for Puma Energy and other fuel retailers to expand their networks, enhance service quality and invest in supply reliability.

“I’m thrilled to join Puma Energy at such a pivotal time for South Africa’s energy and retail sectors. The country’s growing demand for reliable fuels and quality services presents an exciting opportunity to strengthen the company’s network and deliver greater value to our customers,” says Lopez.

“I look forward to working with the team to expand our retail footprint, enhance our service offering, and build long-term partnerships that power South Africa’s growth,” she adds.

Puma Energy operates a network of about 100 retail stations nationwide, supplies major industrial customers, as well as retail, commercial fuels, lubricants and aviation, and provides fuel services at more than 45 airports and airfields. It operates 700 retail stations across 16 countries in Africa.
