Pumps range expansion response to client demand

To meet customer demand for quick and efficient dewatering solutions, international industrial product solu-tions provider Atlas Copco Portable Energy has introduced five new additions to its WEDA range of professional pumps.

The new pump range, which includes the WEDA 04 and WEDA 08 drainage pumps, the WEDA 04B residual pump, and the WEDA 04S and WEDA 08S sludge pumps, is designed to improve durability and simplify maintenance.

The WEDA 04 and WEDA 08 are submer- sible, single-phase electric dewatering pumps with flow rate capacities of 8 m3/h to 20 m3/h and heads of 11 m to 15 m. Easy to move and install, the pumps can quickly be put to work in a range of dewatering situations. This includes excavations in small construction sites, mines, shipyards and other industrial sites, such as pit and manhole drainage during utility installations and repairs, and cleanup tasks for fire brigades. The drainage pumps have polyurethane semivortex impellers, which are designed to handle water with low risk of clogging.

The WEDA 04B residual pump draws water down to 1 mm. With the built-in nonreturn valve, the pump can be moved without spilling or losing suction. A rubber-coated bottom avoids damage to tanks and pools.

Finally, the WEDA 04S and WEDA 08S sludge pumps are sand and mud resistant. Designed with a vortex cast iron impeller, particles and debris of up to 25 mm in diameter can pass through the pump housing with reduced wear.

The new WEDA additions feature a small, lightweight and high-efficiency motor, while a triple shaft seal design ensures reliability. The pumps are equipped with a motor protection that automatically stops a pump in case of either overheating or overloading and automatically restarts the pump after it has cooled down. The Weda range of pumps can be disassembled by removing only three bolts, simplifying the service.

Atlas Copco Portable Energy divisional product manager for pumps Abet Cantuba explains that by extending the current Weda pump range, we continue to develop products that respond to the requirements of contrac-tors, rental companies and pumps dealers. “In this way, we demonstrate our commitment to supporting their business,” he says.

“New product developments such as the WEDA pump range are a step in the right direction as they enable us to better cater for our customers’ specific needs,” concludes Atlas Copco Construction Tech-nique South Africa business line manager for portable energy David Stanford.
