Potential Job Creation
Not stated.
Capital Expenditure
The projects have a combined investment value of R50-billion.
Planned Start/End Date
The projects are expected to be introduced into the country’s power-stressed grid within the coming 36 months.
Latest Developments
Renewable-energy developer juwi South Africa has reached financial close on and started building the 84 MW Wolf Wind Farm, in the Eastern Cape.
The renewable-energy developer expects the facility to start generating electricity for the grid by the first quarter of 2023.
Red Rocket CEO Matteo Branbilla has said that the wind project will be generating more than 360 GWh/y of clean electricity and offset 374 400 t/y of carbon dioxide emissions.
The project will also ensure more than R200-million of community investment over two decades through social projects.
Key Contracts, Suppliers and Consultants
Scatec Solar (engineering, procurement and constuction provider, operation and maintenance, and management services for three solar projects); Mainstream Renewable Power Projects (six solar projects and six wind projects); Engie (three solar projects); Mulilo (one solar project) and EDF Renewables (three solar projects).
