Compressed air and gas systems and solutions provider Ingersoll Rand showcased new and “revolutionary” compressed air and gas technologies, which advance the productivity, reliability and efficiency of compressed air and gas operations, at the 2015 ComVac trade show, which took place in April in Hannover, Germany.

The company’s new technologies included new products and product lines such as the RS-Series contact-cooled rotary screw air compressors; the Turbo-Air NX 12000 centrifugal compressor; the Turbo-DRI air treatment portfolio; and a line of three new dryers, including Ingersoll Rand’s sub-freezing air dryer (SFD), the XL-Series of refrigeration air dryers and Ingersoll Rand’s D1800lB advanced heated blower.

Ingersoll Rand president Manlio Valdes says the company also showcased its existing line of complete compressor solutions, parts, accessories and services.

“We have invested in broadening our portfolio, enhancing our energy efficient solutions and building on our proven record of reliability. “The results of these efforts were on display at our two ComVac booths, where visitors could see how compressed air works and experience our compressed air and gas systems that are engineered to excel,” elaborates Valdes.

He adds that the company had been “eagerly anticipating” ComVac, as it had a lot to showcase, especially with its recently acquired compression business, now named Ingersoll Rand Engineered Centrifugal Compression.

The expo was Ingersoll Rand’s first public exhibition since it acquired the assets of flow equipment service provider Cameron International Corporation’s Centrifugal Compression division in January, a move that has enhanced Ingersoll Rand’s products and services offering in air separation, process gas and highly specified engineered air markets, boasts Valdes.

Product Portfolio
The RS-Series of rotary screw air compressors, which range from 37 kW to 160 kW, and 50 hp to 200 hp, provide market-leading compressed air solutions with toptier efficiency, performance and reliability, says Ingersoll Rand.

“The RS-Series includes one of the most efficient air ends manufactured in Ingersoll Rand’s more than 140-year history, allowing for smooth, cool and quiet operations.

“For increased performance control, the RS-Series of compressors features the recently enhanced Xe-145 controller, which grants the user access to the compressed air system locally, or through Bluetooth, WiFi or Ethernet, as well as remotely through the Web or a cellular connection,” elaborates the company.

The series used leak-reducing V-Shield technology and a variable-speed motor to improve energy efficiency by up to 55%, compared with market average fixed-speed compressors.

Ingersoll Rand provides customers with a variety of choices, with two out of three new dryers using next-generation refrigerants with low global warming potential to ensure sustainable operations.

The company further highlights that the SFD offers refrigeration technology for various industrial applications with performance usually achieved by desiccant technology. It delivers a sub-freezing pressure dew point and consistent Class 3 air quality regardless of workload, ambient conditions or compressor type, highlights the company.

Meanwhile, for highly demanding industrial customers, Ingersoll Rand offers its XL-Series of refrigeration air dryers. The 100 m3/min to 400 m3/min, 50 Hz Ingersoll Rand XL-Series refrigeration air dryers offer up to a 50% lower-pressure drop, compared with standard dryers, with new, compact, modular design improvements that increase serviceability and maintenance.

For increased flow and optimised efficiency in a compact footprint, the Turbo-Air NX 12000 centri- fugal compressor is an integrally geared centrifugal, oil-free compressor with robust design features.

Further, the Turbo-DRI air treatment portfolio features a complete range of 50 Hz and 60 Hz refrigerant and desiccant dryer models and filtration products designed to optimise compressed air systems, regardless of the site conditions or the compressed air system applications.

The Turbo-DRI refrigerated dryers include cycling and noncycling types from 500 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) to 19 000 scfm and Turbo-Dri desiccant dryers available in heatless, heated, blower purge and heat of compression models.
