Schneider appoints digital energy director for Anglophone Africa
Energy management and automation company Schneider Electric has appointed Hilton Baartman digital energy director for Anglophone Africa.
Baartman is an award-winning executive with a diverse background in professional services, energy, water, engineering, procurement and construction, as well as technology.
He has experience in leadership, strategy and business development and transformation, including from his early career days at Eskom, a managerial role at power system software company Digsilent Buyisa and as MD of technology group EOH’s consulting engineering cluster.
More recently, Baartman worked as MD for rural and mining at water utility Hall Core Water.
Baartman’s accolades include a TransUnion Rising Star Award in the information and communication technology category.
He says his immediate priority at Schneider will be to understand the business and the needs of key customers. Baartman says he is particularly focused on driving the business in the digital buildings space to create smarter and greener businesses.
As digital energy director, Baartman will be tasked to shape Schneider’s digital energy strategy across the Anglophone Africa cluster, ensuring the company continues to deliver innovative solutions that enhance sustainability and efficiency in the region.
Anglophone Africa includes the sub-Saharan African countries of Gambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana and Nigeria, as well as parts of Cameroon.
