SKF is to reveal its latest innovations for improving the efficiency of engine performance, whilst saving weight, at the upcoming Paris Air Show on 17-23 June 2019.

The increasing demands being placed on the aerospace sector mean that suppliers need to be fast moving, innovative and provide full life-cycle partnerships. SKF is taking the opportunity at this year’s Paris Air Show to show the company’s latest technological innovations for fixed-wing, helicopter, engine and gearbox applications, in addition to integrated Industry 4.0 and full life cycle services.

Using the latest in hybrid bearing technology and composite materials, SKF has developed a range of products that help improve engine performance, reduce fuel consumption and reduce emissions as well as costs. For example, SKF’s carbon fibre composite structural solutions offer 40% weight savings compared to aluminium, increasing aircraft capacity and cost efficiency.

SKF is proud to support major last generation narrow bodies and wide bodies engines and to be the first hybrid bearing technology supplier for commercial engine main shaft applications. In addition, SKF is developing new light weight bearing cages, which could potentially deliver up to 5kg additional weight savings on such a bearing.

On stand will also be examples of SKF’s latest gearbox, isolator and aircraft seal solutions. These have helped major engine programs deliver unparalleled performance, and fuel efficiency.

As well as partnering in the development of major engine programs, SKF supports helicopter, fixed-wing, engine and gearbox applications with a large range of high-performance products. SKF is also fully qualified to support these programs with maintenance repair and overhaul services.

SKF will also be using the Paris Air Show to demonstrate the company’s offerings as an Industry 4.0 partner. With vast experience and specialised sector knowledge, SKF enables customers to integrate digitalization and benefit from design through to delivery.

Philippe Peroz, Aerospace Business Unit Manager said: “With a broad yet specialised product portfolio and focus on technology development and sustainability, SKF is the ideal partner for the full life cycle. From technology validation and product qualification to reliable operation, support and services, our worldwide operation ensures that there is an accessible and innovative solution, whatever and wherever the need.”

The Paris Air Show will be held in Paris Le Bourget, France, on 17-23 June 2019. SKF will be exhibiting in Hall 2a, Booth 253.
