Name of the Project
Stellantis investment initiative.

Location
US states of Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.

Project Owner/s
Leading global automaker Stellantis.

Project Description
Stellantis is strengthening its US presence by expanding its manufacturing footprint and launching five new vehicles and a four-cylinder engine.

In Illinois, Stellantis will restart the Belvidere plant to resume Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Compass production.

In Ohio, production of a new midsize truck – originally assigned to Belvidere – will shift to the Toledo assembly complex, where Stellantis is also continuing previously announced announcements in new technologies and upgrades for the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator, as well as key component production.

In Michigan, the company will develop a new range-extended EV and an internal combustion engine large sports utility vehicle at the Warren truck assembly plant, while the Detroit Assembly Complex – Jefferson prepares for the production of the next-generation Dodge Durango.

In Indiana, Stellantis has confirmed additional investment in its Kokomo facilities to produce the GMET4 EVO four-cylinder engine. More than $100-million will be invested, creating over 100 new jobs, establishing the US as the production hub for this strategic powertrain.

Potential Job Creation
Stellantis’s investment programme is expected to generate more than 5 000 jobs across its facilities in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. At the Belvidere assembly plant, about 3 300 positions will be created. The transfer of production from Belvidere to the Toledo assembly complex could generate an additional 900 jobs. In Michigan, the new programme at the Warren assembly plant is projected to add more than 900 jobs, while the planned expansion in Indiana is expected to create more than 100 jobs.

Capital Expenditure
Stellantis will invest $13-billion in its US operations, including more than $600-million for the Belvidere plant, $400-million for the Toldedo complex, about $100-million for retooling at the Warren truck plant, and more than $100-million to expand its Indiana facility.

Planned Start/End Date
Production at the Belvidere plant is planned to start in 2027, followed by Toledo and Michigan in 2028, and Detroit Assembly Complex – Jefferson in 2029. Stellantis aims to start GMET4 EVO engine production in early 2026.
