PREVENTING BREAKDOWNS The enhancement of wear protection lowers the risk of transmission failures, which could result in costly repairs and downtime, while further preventing breakdowns in order to keep vehicles operational for longer

The TITAN ATF 5668 transmission fluid from lubrication manufacturer FUCHS LUBRICANTS SOUTH AFRICA is specifically designed to meet fully automatic transmission manufacturer Allison Transmission’s latest TES specification, while extending oil drain intervals and keeping equipment running smoothly, even in harsh conditions.

Currently, most of the market references conventional products – such as Allison Transmission’s TES 295, which has a lower drain interval of 2 000 hours – explains FUCHS application engineer manager Gregory Tarr.

TES 668 is the latest specification for on-highway commercial vehicles’ automatic transmissions, offering extended drain intervals, he notes.

The TES 668 specification sets enhanced standards for oxidation stability, friction performance and wear protection while improving upon the TES 295 in other areas, such as heat and shear stability. The former also boasts results that are 13 times better in terms of clutch engagement, with the TES 668 outperforming the TES 295, particularly in challenging wet clutch systems.

Further, these improvements enhance shift quality while reducing noise and vibrations associated with the ageing of common mineral-based fluids.

“FUCHS’ TITAN ATF 5668 has been specially developed to meet the modern requirements established by TES 668 and has undergone a rigorous test programme at Allison Transmission.”

As a result of “outstanding” results, Allison Transmission officially approved the FUCHS TITAN ATF 5668 according to TES 668 and recommended it for intervals of 4 000 hours.

Tarr says the TITAN ATF 5668 allows for backward-compatible use, according to TES 295 and TES 389, making it suitable for all Allison Transmission automatic transmissions in the 1 000, 2 000, 3 000 and 4 000 series.

Further, TITAN ATF 5668 aligns with sustainability in several ways, but primarily by optimising wear protection.

The TITAN ATF 5668 resists oxidation and sludge formation, consequently promoting cleaner operations enabling effective management of sustainable automotive practices to the benefit of the environment.
