Welding Alloys South Africa (WASA) is a South African subsidiary of Welding Alloys. The Welding Alloys group covers more than 150 countries and territories throughout a network of over 30 subsidiaries. More then 25 Integra Service Centres operate worldwide and offer extensive and established expertise across numerous industries.

In 1976, WASA commenced production of tubular welding wire as the third member in the Welding Alloys group.  WASA’s tubular welding wire is produced in a range of alloys from mild to stainless steel and hardfacing products, and is used in open arc, submerged arc and metal insert gas and/or metal active gas welding processes. WASA is the only producer of flux-cored wires in Africa.

WASA’s wire operations in Roodepoort has a monthly production capacity of about 80 t. Welding wire is produced according to ISO and group standards by incorporating and maintaining state-of-the-art technology, sourcing the world’s best raw materials, and investing in WASA’s staff and equipment.

WASA has been ISO 9001 certified since 2006 and its Integra operations have been ISO 3834 Part 3 certified since 2011.

In the 48 years since commencing business, WASA has grown in mostly difficult economic times. The company has excelled especially in the engineering and manufacturing sectors and has become a market leader in Africa for the supply of high alloyed welding consumables for the mining sector and the repair and rebuild of crusher and/or mill wear components in the cement industry.

WASA is committed to developing its applications and market in-line with the Welding Alloys group’s standard product offering, such as thermal spray, column cladding, laser cladding and automotive manufacturing.

Welding Alloys has a dedicated research and development department that strives to be at the forefront of engineering products.
