Awards celebrate South Africa’s eco-champions

The 2025 Eco-Logic Awards celebrated South Africa's ecologically intelligent champions for their contributions to protecting and preserving the planet at the yearly awards ceremony held at the Two Oceans Aquarium, in Cape Town, on October 27.

Hosted by eco-activist and humorist Themba Robin, “eco-movers and shakers” from various environmental sectors gathered to recognise extraordinary achievements in areas such as South African wildlife conservation, waste innovation, climate change, water conservation and eco-fashion.

Now in its fourteenth year, the Eco-Logic Awards continue to showcase the dedicated individuals, organisations, communities and the innovative products, services and technologies that are making a positive and measurable difference in building a more socially and ecologically conscious and sustainable environment for us all to live in.

“Our winners and finalists represent the very best of South Africa's eco-champions who are leading the way in supporting and advancing benefits for people, planet, and profit,” says Eco-Logic Awards founder and editor of the Enviropaedia David Parry-Davies.

“Each one demonstrates that through creativity, determination and eco-logical thinking, we can create a thriving future that is not only sustainable but also more intelligent, inclusive, kind and harmonious with nature.”

The Eco-Logic Awards recognise achievements across 12 categories, including climate change solutions, water conservation, circular economy projects, eco-fashion and community-driven programmes.

Entries opened earlier this year, with submissions carefully evaluated by a panel of independent, environmentally knowledgeable executives from diverse backgrounds.

Winners included the Beyond Expectation Environmental Project (BEEP) in the nature conservation category; the National Business Initiative’s (NBI’s) Climate Finance Accelerator – South Africa or (CFA-SA) in the climate change category; Ecofluency in the eco-innovation category; Khepri Innovations for the circular economy and waste innovation category; Environmental & Rural Solutions in the water conservation category; and Up-Cycled Cloth Collective in the eco-fashion and lifestyle category.

Winners also included Eco Diva Natural in the eco-health and wellness category; Arumloo in the eco-friendly products category; Nature Connect: Sustainable Schools Programmes in the eco-community category; WESSA Coastal Programme in the eco-hospitality and tourism category; Lindela Mjenxane from BEEP for the eco-angel award; and the Biodiversity Law Centre for the eco-warrior award.

Additionally, Dr Mavuso Msimang won the Eco-Logical Intelligence Lifetime Achievement Award.

“The Eco-Logic Awards are about inspiration as much as they are about recognition. Every finalist is a pioneer and thought-leader in their field, showing that meaningful action for the planet is both vitally necessary and achievable.

“They each embody the very best in eco-logical intelligence, offering creative, effective and tangible contributions that benefit all of us,” adds Parry-Davies.

In a separate media release, the NBI explains that the CFA-SA programme, which won the Climate Finance Accelerator Award, is designed to support South Africa’s transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy.

Funded by the UK government, it strengthens collaboration between project developers, financiers and policymakers, enabling bankable climate projects that deliver systemic and sustainable impact.

Since its launch in 2022, NBI says CFA-SA has supported 43 low-carbon projects, helping to mobilise over $100-million in investment across key sectors, advancing climate action that is inclusive, equitable and transformative.

“This recognition highlights the power of partnership in driving South Africa’s just transition and building a sustainable, resilient future for all,” says NBI.
