The new company juwi Shizen Energy, headquartered in Tokyo, is the result of the successful cooperation between Shizen Energy Inc. and the German juwi group. The companies combine first class international expertise and outstanding Japanese project development expertise plus an excellent track record. juwi Shizen Energy
will support the Japanese in their effort to accelerate the expansion of renewable energies in their country. Today the two companies announced their cooperation at the JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center in Tokyo. Their first project – a free-field photovoltaic system on the Japanese island Kyushu – was already connected to the grid mid-December.

Furthermore, the company has a project pipeline of 120 MW in 2013 and is targeting to install 1 GW by 2017. Thus juwi Shizen Energy Inc. will bring affordable, secure and sustainable energy to the land of the rising sun. “We are very happy to strengthen our proven cooperation with juwi in this joint venture. The company belongs to one of the most successful and experienced project developers worldwide. We are confident that their experience and our know-how of the Japanese market will contribute considerably to the energy revolution in Japan,” said Ken Isono, CEO of Shizen Energy. “Japan offers very good conditions for renewable energies. On the one hand there are good solar radiation levels and on the other there are many good spots for wind energy. With these preconditions the country can reduce its dependence on imported fuels and create new investments and many new jobs.

Renewable energies are a great opportunity for Japan,” adds Martin Winter, Chief Financial Officer of the juwi Group. The first project of juwi Shizen Energy was already connected to the grid mid of December 2012 and runs smoothly. The free-field photovoltaic system is located near Kumamoto City on the island Kyushu in the south of Japan. It has an output of one megawatt and will produce eco-friendly electricity for approximately 300 households. The construction of the project started at the end of October. “We are planning to construct more projects all over Japan. In addition to free-field photovoltaic systems we are also building roof-top photovoltaic systems,” explains Masaya Hasegawa, Managing Director and founder of Shizen Energy and Representative Director of juwi Shizen Energy.

“We are convinced that it is possible to supply all energy needs with secure and environmentallyfriendly sources of energy. 100 per cent renewable energies are not only possible but are a key element for an independent and sustainable future in Japan and elsewhere around the world,” says Amiram Roth-Deblon, juwi Regional Director Asia Pacific and Representative Director of juwi Shizen Energy.
