As DEKRA Global marks its 100th anniversary, DEKRA Industrial and the DEKRA Institute of Learning (IOL) used their presence at this year’s A-OSH Expo to celebrate a century of “securing the future”, demonstrating the companies' ongoing commitment to workplace safety and skills development in South Africa.
Engineering News interviewed DEKRA Industrial South Africa MD Johan Gerber and DEKRA IOL head of training and consulting Christopher Mörsner at the show, held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand earlier this month.
Through process safety management (PSM), digital innovation and adult-based training, DEKRA Industrial and IOL are redefining what safety means in modern workplaces. The companies’ proactive PSM approach – incorporating node-based analysis, dynamic modelling and site-specific risk mitigation – helps industries identify and prevent catastrophic risks before they occur.
Digital transformation is a key pillar of DEKRA’s strategy. Real-time inspection platforms, remote audits, interactive risk simulations and AI-powered risk forecasting are revolutionising safety training and performance assessments across industries.
DEKRA Industrial and IOL also introduced new brand ambassadors – figures from sport and entertainment who personify the companies’ safety-first culture – at A-OSH Expo 2025.
